It's Thanksgiving! I love this time of year! However, being that we live in such a consumer mentality society, tapered with many who live life with a sense of entitlement, it's easy for us to take the many blessings of life for granted. This Thanksgiving slow down and ask yourself, "Am I taking the God-given blessings in my life for granted? Or, do I have a deep appreciation and a heart of gratitude for the wonderful blessings in my life?"
Let's be thankful for the:
Common blessings that are commonly overlooked. Such as food, our five senses (eyes - seeing, ears - hearing, nose - smelling, mouth - tasting, hands - touching), family and friends. Let's not take these common blessings for granted!
Special blessings that are soon forgotten. You may ask, "Special blessings? What are these?" You know, those special blessings given at just the right time, just the right hour from God. These special blessings may be packaged as an answered prayer, a monetary gift from a friend at just the right time, or a word of encouragement received to lift our spirits. The list literally goes on-and-on-and-on! Slow down this Thanksgiving season and recall all of those special blessing given throughout the year.
Greatest blessing that is tragically ignored. What is this greatest blessing? 2 Corinthians 9:15 says, "Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift." What is this unspeakable gift? Jesus! Let's have a heart of gratitude for the greatest blessing ever given - the gift of salvation through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
